For 32 bit, set it to max, but seems like you are rendering a rather large image. I would suggest you to use 64-bit. At our lab we are allocating 12 GB of RAM to render large visualizations.

Hi Jay,

Thanks for the attached file.

The maximum memory allocated for the ImageJ is 1536MB (I'm using the 32-bit version). But you said how much I allocated to ImageMontage, do I have to set memory appart from the one allocated to ImageJ for ImageMontage?

Best,

Matias

Hi Matias,
The first bug is a known bug and will be patched on the next update, in the mean time. Please used the attached version. The second bug is an issue with your RAM size. Lev is correct, if you are trying to rending an image that is too large. ImageMontage will throw that exception. How much RAM did you allocate to ImageMontage?

best,
Jay

Jay,

can you please answer Matias re error no. 1? Does the version on ImageJ site has bugs? I don't remember where we left it... but anyway, we need to make sure a correct version is there (it does not need to be the latest).

Matias - I think error number 2 means the montage you are trying to create is more than 2.5 GB, which is the limit for ImageJ visualizations.

Lev

Greetings Mr. Manovich,

My name is Matias Yannuzzi, a student at University of Buenos Aires. My team and I are working on a Digital Humanities project, using the ImageJ software along with your Image Montage plugin to make visualizations. However, when we select the folder containing the pictures to be montaged, the following error message shows up:

On the other hand, attempts to use a data file to select the pictures triggers this message:

Any suggestions you can make to help us solve this problem would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Yours Sincerely,

Matias Yannuzzi
